Registration for Minors

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with SD Refugee Tutoring.
Please submit the following information which will take the place of a Background Check.
We will then process your registration after you attend a New Tutor Orientation. The next Orientation dates can be found in Step One here.

Please also keep in mind our Minors Policy:

1. Volunteers in middle school or in their Freshman or Sophomore year of high school must tutor together with their parent/guardian at all sessions.
2. Minors in their Junior or Senior year of high school must tutor with a parent/guardian for at least their first 3 sessions. After that, we will determine if the minor is able to tutor on their own. This can be further discussed by emailing us: [email protected]
3. All parents/guardians will also need to register with us and attend a New Tutor Orientation session.

I, being the Parent or Legal Guardian of the Minor listed above, do hereby consent to and authorize the Minor to act as a volunteer for San Diego Refugee Tutoring (SDRT). By checking the box above, I am giving my digital signature as consent for participation.

I acknowledge and agree that activities performed by the Minor as a volunteer will be performed strictly on a voluntary basis, without any pay, compensation, or benefits. I am aware of the nature of the activities to be performed by the Minor as a SDRT volunteer. I agree that all volunteer activities are to be performed by the Minor at the Minor’s risk and I assume full responsibility therefore. I also grant and convey to SDRT all right, title, and interests in any and all photographs, images, video, or audio recordings of the Minor or their likeness or voice made by SDRT in connection with the Minor’s services to SDRT.

By consenting, I release, forever discharge, and hold harmless SDRT and its successors and assigns from any and all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind of nature, either in law or in equity, which arise or may hereafter arise from the services the Minor provides to SDRT. I understand and acknowledge that this Release discharges SDRT from any liability or claim that I may have against SDRT with respect to bodily injury, personal injury, illness, death, or property damage that may result from the services the Minor provides to SDRT or occurring while the Minor is providing volunteer services.

In addition to the above terms, I agree to hold harmless and indemnify SDRT and its officers, directors, affiliates, employees, agents, volunteers, successors and assigns from and against any and all claims, losses, damages, expenses, and all other liabilities that arise out of or result in whole or in part from the Minor’s conduct or failure to act as an SDRT Volunteer consistent with the SDRT Code of Conduct, the Volunteer Release and Waiver of Liability, or any applicable law (collectively, the “Liabilities”), including, but not limited to, court costs, attorney fees, costs of investigation, costs of defense, and any and all settlements, awards and judgments associated with any and all Liabilities.
