This is what one of our recent high school graduates said about her experience with SDRT.
We won’t know the extent to which our kids feel unseen at school. The teacher’s voice eventually becomes background noise, as they are often missing crucial building blocks needed to understand current material being taught. The need to ask a question but not knowing how to speak the language and having a fear of embarrassment does not allow our kids to feel safe.
SDRT is a refuge for learning.
We teach our kids at their level, in a safe and welcoming environment, where their guards are down and they can actually learn. We have wobble chairs, sensory tools, and trauma informed staff and volunteers. And food. Students can learn so much more when they are not hungry.
