The socks were sorted, all comfy and neat…

Despite masks and social distancing, TEAM SDRT pulled off a holiday event!

‘Twas the hour before noon, when all through the playground,
Every volunteer busy with holiday tunes making a sound.

The socks were all sorted, comfy and neat,
In hopes that they would keep warm all the little feet.

The books were displayed in the most organized fashion,
As kids came along, they selected their passion.

Bananas and oranges and apples thanks to Sprouts,
Brought smiles to their faces and not any pouts.

The children all came anticipating a surprise,
A toy for the Littles and a gift card for Big Girls & Guys.

Hope for SD came through with the most practical loot,
gas cards, pots and pans, blankets and diapers to boot!

The cocoa and marshmallows prepared in a tray,
For each family to take and enjoy on their way.

We heard them exclaim as they walked out together,
“That was amazing…It couldn’t have been better!”

We found a way to have a masked, socially distant holiday event for our SDRT families. Each family came at a designated time and traveled as a family to six different stations. Half of the stations were ‘essential items’ such as socks, masks, groceries, gas gift cards, blankets and towels (all wrapped up!). The kids especially loved the other stations, which included selecting crisp new books, a special toy and hot cocoa (to-go!). A huge thanks to our donors (YOU!) who made this event possible and some fantastic organizations and churches~ Hope for San Diego, Chula Vista Sprouts, Kensington Community Church, and Covenant Church.

Thank you, everyone! Have a healthy and safe holiday season from all of us at SDRT!
