Merry & Bright

Whether it was getting first dibs on the latest copy of Dog Man or enjoying a warm cup of hot cocoa, every student felt the love from SDRT this week! The Hello Kitty and Spider Man toys went first, with soccer balls and Barbies a close second. Another little girl noted again this year that her Barbie doll,“looks just like me!”

A newly arrived eighth-grade student mentioned that this was her first time ever decorating a cookie, as she coerced her tutor to pose with her and the finished product. One kindergartener kept asking us if he could go to the holiday party. Meanwhile, he was already AT the holiday party sipping on cocoa! He was so thrilled that he was invited. And even more elated about the dinosaur truck he chose.

Though we had a lot of fun this week at tutoring, we also worked hard on homework, reading and math problems. We had some real troopers in both tutors and students who worked hard until it was “Holiday Room” time!

A huge thank you to Hope For San Diego, for not only bringing in volunteers and cookies for our holiday rooms, but for also providing each of our families with a new blanket and gift card. Thank to all of YOU, who jumped into action purchasing these gifts for our students in November. Thank you to Nicole for providing all the cocoa yet again for our kids and tutors. Thank you to Kensington Community Church for providing gift cards as holiday gifts for our 6-12 grade students!

Thank you, everyone, for making this magical week happen!

We Wish You All a Lovely Holiday Season!
