Let’s Keep Showing Up

Though the news can be discouraging, upsetting, and even scary at times, we are confident we have the right move at this moment: Keep showing up.
Because, our kids are coming in record numbers with great needs. We broke our attendance record with 90 kids showing upfor one session last week!
We have been handing out jackets each night, extra snacks for hungry bellies and are even sizing everyone for new shoes next month. We have kids who are drastically far behind their peers academically. 90 minutes is hardly enough time. One student shared about her fears of losing her place to live because her mom couldn’t afford the rent due in three days.

We cannot solve every problem but we can show up. We can offer our love and support. We can crack books and computers open and do our best to teach eager learners. We can give from our abundance of resources to meet needs we see. We can encourage our kids that regardless of what they hear on the news—they matter. They are worth showing up for.
And, we will keep showing up, giving, helping and listening.
Thank you all for doing just that.
