I’ve Got Horses in the Back!

SDRT had the joy of taking sixteen middle and high school students out to Rancho Santa Fe to Silver Spur Riding School this past weekend! Thanks to the Kim family (their daughter raised half of the money for this trip!), our students had the experience of a lifetime.

Fifteen of them had never been horseback riding before! From braiding the horses’ manes to cleaning out their hooves to feeding them carrots to learning to make their horses trot, everyone had a smile plastered on their face the entire afternoon.

They learned things about themselves they didn’t previously know, built new memories, travelled outside of City Heights, and for some, faced their fears!  We are thankful for opportunities like these to widen our kids’ perspectives. They got to be the cowboys and cowgirls (complete with boots!) in that song they can’t stop singing!
