“I LOVE my tutor! She’s the BEST!”

While it is not rare to hear that statement from a first or second grader, it is much less likely to hear it from a high school student. And those were just the words a departing senior student said to me this week amidst the organized dismissal chaos that was occurring around us. This student has had the privilege of working with the same tutor for a couple of years. While he struggles significantly in school, SDRT has provided him a much needed community that he thrives in. He has been coming to tutoring for about eight years and doesn’t ever miss a session. He especially likes special events, so he can reconnect with tutors from the past and give them each a friendly embrace. And his comment about his tutor? She is indeed pretty amazing. She’s a college math professor by day, math tutor and life encourager by night.
