It Took a Village

From 150+ tutors showing up in just one week to Amazon drivers delivering snacks every two hours to folks showing up on a Saturday to help our kids get assessed to others representing SDRT at a fall festival...folks keep showing up for our kids in so many incredible ways!

Thank you for buying snacks to last us at least until the start of the new year. Thanks for watching toddlers so parents could receive important information at our Parent Workshop this past weekend. Thanks to Qualcomm for our recent grant so we could purchase more computers to make assessments possible. Thanks to City Farmers for raising awareness about SDRT and collecting items for our students!

Sharing SDRT at City Farmers Fall Festival

A huge thanks to our SDRT board members and their friends and family who represented SDRT at a booth this weekend.

We were delighted to debut our new branding at City Farmers Fall Festival in City Heights. We shared about how folks can get involved and collected jackets, sweatshirts and snacks! Thank you, City Farmers, for having us!

Saturday Assessments

We took our first stab at assessing students on a Saturday and it was a success!

We had volunteer monitors who encouraged our students to do their very best. Our assessments help us determine what areas of need each child has and will give us information on how to tutor them more effectively. A win all around!

A big shoutout to Qualcomm for recently funding the purchase of 20 new computers!

Snacks Galore

Our last newsletter call for snacks was taken to heart and we had folks send, purchase and drive boxes of food to the doorsteps of tutoring! We couldn’t be more grateful as we open box after box after box.

Thank you for helping us keep our kids’ bellies full and bodies ready to learn on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Food is a crucial part of our kids’ having success at tutoring.

Parent Workshop

A huge thanks to Amie with Students Without Limits for presenting at our parent workshop for many of our parents on Saturday. We had a fantastic turnout. SDRT provided food and childcare as well as translation in four languages.

160+ Tutors Needed Weekly

Aside from one rainy tutoring evening, we have been consistently short 10-30 tutors each night at tutoring. Please join us for an upcoming New Tutor Orientation and help support our students!
