A recent retiree finds purpose each week. A young college student comes to ‘fulfill a service requirement’ and realizes he needed this group more than he needed the credit for the class. A family looks to serve together and teach their kids that love is greater than fear. Each of our volunteers come alongside our diverse group of students and give them a hand with a project, a lesson, or a tough assignment.
Together, the SDRT community of over 400 students and volunteers is magical.
It is a place of belonging for everyone, tutor and student alike. All are truly welcome and celebrated at each and every session at SDRT.
Belonging matters—for all of us.
From the words a former SDRT student, now a freshman in college at SDSU,“You taught me a new language while also celebrating my own culture. Thank you for inviting my family and me to SDRT and for creating such a warm and loving environment for kids like me. Thank you to the volunteers for helping kids feel included.”
SDRT is a refuge for belonging.
