We all have that place or those people that we can go to and not worry about what we look like or how we say things. We are known and accepted no matter what. We can let our guard down and just be us. It is with these people and in this place where we feel comfortable and cared for. We have a quiet confidence that we won’t be judged, but fully accepted.
When surveying our kids at the end of the year last year and asking them what they like about SDRT, several commented about this comfort and confidence. One in particular said, “They make us feel comfortable.” Across multiple languages, faiths and ages, it is no easy task to create a space of comfort and confidence for our 150 students and over 300 tutors. Yet, the community at SDRT does this. At each and every tutoring session. And, it is a large part of why our kids are thriving and desire to come back week after week.
