That blacktop may have been radiating heat beneath our feet.
We may have had 15 full carloads of stuff to haul up and down stairs.
Sweat was definitely dripping down our faces before the kids arrived.
But, WE DID IT. The SDRT community came through. It was a day of anticipation and excitement as we helped get our kids ready for another exciting year of school!
Thanks to many of you and your donations, we pulled off our biggest Back to School Event yet with over 250 kids in attendance plus their family members and 100 volunteers.
We had our first ever halal chicken, rice and salad lunch thanks to our newest board member, Stefan, and his family. We never had a barber stool empty. We got to hand out the most beautiful Costco produce to every single family. Kids got cool backpacks and even cooler shoes along with hygiene products, socks, underwear, haircuts and FUN! Most importantly, we registered everyone for tutoring!
We all came together for this event. Thank you to everyone who shopped for our kids, donated so we could shop, sponsored the event, helped us set up, ran stations, broke it down and ran security.
We couldn’t have done it without you (and your literal sweat!).
